What people don't understand is that applying sunscreen much like brushing your teeth, or drinking your morning coffee is a significant ordinary habit. Probably you wear your sunscreen when you're relaxing poolside, or taking off for a beach day and tanning, however, dermatologists will disclose to you that you should be wearing this useful stuff 365 days a year.

UV light is a kind of radiation that originates from the sun. As you would expect, it is the strongest in warm or hot climates. Actually, SPF is a measure of burn time, and that has to do with UVB, not UVA. UVB goes superficial, UVA goes deeper and has long-term damage to skin. So, when you are going to buy sunscreen you have to look for UVA coverage as well because it goes deeper and protects from free radicals. When you focus only on SPF, it doesn’t matter too much except how long you can stay in the sun.

To protect your skin from damage, premature aging, and sunburns you should always apply sunscreen, and here is my recommendation.

It’s simple to measure, so if your skin would normally burn after 20 minutes in the sun, applying an SPF 15 sunscreen would allow you to stay in the sun without burning for approximately 300 minutes – This is a factor of 15 times longer protection. This is a rough estimate that depends on skin type, the intensity of sunlight and amount of sunscreen used.

 SPF Scale says that SPF 15 block 93% of UVB rays, SPF 30 blocks 97%, SPF 50 blocks 98% of UVB rays, so there is only 4 percent difference in protection between SPF 15 and SPF 50.
